When will I receive my key?

HTTP-Tunnel uses PayPal© and PaySystems© for monetary transactions. What happens is that these payment processors receive payments from our users and then they notify our automated system of the payments. The keys are then automatically generated and sent to the user.

For Paypal©, the entire process usually happens within minutes after a payment has been made. PaySystems©, on the other hand, can take up to 6 hours to process your payment.

If you sent an eCheck, then PayPal© only notifies our systems once the eCheck has cleared. This may take up to 1 week. If you have not paid using an eCheck and you have not received your key within a matter of minutes of sending payment, then there is a problem. This might be because our SMTP server (mail server) is unable to reach the destination. At this point it would be prudent to enter your email address to the left where it says Misplaced your Product Key and you should receive a response from us.

Are there any known problems with this MS proxy?

HTTP-Tunnel build 1853 doesn't support MS proxies since they require NTLM authentication. We are developing a new version of HTTP-Tunnel which has NTLM support which will be out within the coming months.

However, there is a work around. There is software called NTLM Authorization Proxy Server, the software creator states:

"NTLM Authorization Proxy Server (APS) is a proxy software that allows you to authenticate via an MS Proxy Server using the proprietary NTLM protocol. Since version 0.9.5 APS has an ability to behave as a standalone proxy server and authenticate http clients at web servers using NTLM method. It can change arbitrary values in your client's request header so that those requests will look like they were created by MS IE."

All help that you need to set it up can be found there, we should be posting a how to in our user guide page soon!

What is the latency to the HTTP-Tunnel servers?

You would only need to know the latency issues with the HTTP-Tunnel servers if you are playing games which have time critical issues and need to have low latencies more than higher bandwidths. It is not possible to test the latency of the servers if you have a proxy or a firewall that blocks ping requests.

Some people wish to know if the High Bandwidth Service will decrease their latency. One way to test the latencies to our SERVER, but not to our SERVER SOFTWARE, would be to ping our servers. Go to the server status page and there are the names of all of the servers.

i.e. If the server name is Paid3.HTTP-Tunnel.com
From a command prompt type:
PING Paid3.HTTP-Tunnel.com

Can you make voice calls over HTTP-Tunnel?

There are numerous services including MSN© Messenger, Netmeeting, ICQ©, Yahoo© Messenger and AOL© Messenger that help you voice chat over the internet. Although many people have an avid interest in doing voice over the internet, the voice protocols are primarily UDP based. Inherently there is an issue for setting up UDP listening ports as there are not that many ports available on our servers. This probably doesn't exist with a connection oriented TCP protocol.

Therefore HTTP-Tunnel does not support ANY VOICE applications.

My service isn't working, did my ISP block HTTP-Tunnel.com servers?

HTTP-Tunnel.com has numerous servers hosting HTTP-Tunnel's services. The first test to see if your ISP has blocked our address/domain name is to check whether you can surf to the HTTP-Tunnel web site. Assuming that you are reading this from HTTP-Tunnel.com, you must have passed that test. Furthermore, if you wish to test your connection to each of the individual servers, visit the Server Status Page and click on all of the servers.

By clicking on the above link, you should see the message "Connection test succeeded, HTTP-Tunnel should work fine". This is a connection directly to our server software.

Also please try to surf our web site via https://www.http-tunnel.com. People have suggested to us that even though their ISPs have blocked http to our servers, secure http is still available. The web page may be available if you try to access it this way, but you will still be unable to use HTTP-Tunnel itself.

If I subscribe for the service, what will my speed be?

HTTP-Tunnel's Low Bandwidth servers are limited to 1.5 kilobytes/sec. If you pay for service you will have unrestricted access to our DS3 backbone to the Internet. The best way to determine what your speed will be would be to click on the Speed Test tab in the HTTP-Tunnel Client software. This will give you the highest possible speed you can receive using HTTP-Tunnel.

Is UDP supported via SOCKS?

Although UDP is supported via SOCKSCAP, HTTP-Tunnel's SOCKS 4/5 server does not support UDP connections yet.

I want to setup an HTTP-Tunnel server, as it will create faster service for me

Currently the HTTP-Tunnel server is only available for corporate customers.

Why can't I setup servers using HTTP-Tunnel

To ensure security of your network, HTTP-Tunnel does not let you set up any servers i.e. listening sockets. Only outgoing connections are allowed.

I have this error when I try to connect to MSN Messenger

MSN seems very intolerant to slow connections. Subscribing for the high bandwidth service may help. Also, Trillian from http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/ generally works better than most other chat clients with HTTP-Tunnel.

Sharing your HTTP-Tunnel client connection

NOTE: This feature has currently been removed as it was being used improperly. We are looking into putting this feature back in, but as of now it does not work.

HTTP-Tunnel software has the inherent ability to allow other people to connect to your PC's IP at 1080 and use your HTTP-Tunnel SOCKS4/5 server to relay and connect to the Internet.

People have expressed interest in the ability to block people from connecting to their HTTP-Tunnel SOCKS4/5 server. In version 2.7.1853 we have created an option that "only allows users from this machine to use my client". This maintains exclusivity of your server software.

Some people have expressed interest in the ability to block certain IPs from using it and allow other IPs from using it. The only method to do this is to download a firewall. It has been recommended that Tiny Software© has a personal firewall which you can use for free. [source: jleinenbach -- HTTP-Tunnel Forums]

Every time I download a file, it stalls at  99%. Anything do with the tunneling?

This is a known problem with HTTP-Tunnel that we are looking into fixing. There is currently a beta fix for firewall users, check the forums.

Why is my service so slow?

HTTP-Tunnel provides two types of service. Low bandwidth and High Bandwidth. The Low Bandwidth service is limited to 1.5 kilobytes/sec of traffic. Therefore, if you have a Low Bandwidth subscription, you will not be able to exceed this speed.

The High Bandwidth service is limited by the speed of the HTTP-Tunnel servers, the latency of the connection from your client to our servers and the speed of your Internet connection. You can test this by clicking on the "Speed Test" tab of the HTTP-Tunnel client software and click "Perform Speed Test." This will show you the highest speed you can get with HTTP-Tunnel.

You can purchase the Low and High Bandwidth subscriptions at the HTTP-Tunnel product page.

Does FTP work with HTTP-Tunnel?

FTP does indeed work with HTTP-Tunnel's service, but you must set your FTP client software to PASV mode and SOCKS 4/5 proxy 127.0.0.1 with port 1080. The best FTP client for doing this is FlashFXP© as it allows you to use the SOCKS proxy directly.

FTP, in standard active mode actually opens a command connection only. Whenever you do a "dir" or "ls" or transfer a file, the command connection issues a statement to the FTP server to connect back to the client on a listening port. Since HTTP-Tunnel does not allow servers to run behind any firewall or proxy (security measure), one will never get FTP to work in active mode.

Numerous people have tried FTP behind a firewall. It still seems that only some of them can get this working, even in passive mode. I suspect it has to do with different servers and clients implementing PASV mode differently. Currently FTP Uploading is not supported either.

How do I cancel my subscription?

If you have purchased the HTTP-Tunnel high bandwidth service on a monthly basis, you do not need to do anything to cancel. Your service will automatically expire.

If, for some reason, you are unhappy with the service, you can use the customer service form to explain why you are unhappy and request to cancel your subscription. You may receive a refund depending on the amount of time left in your subscription.

Is there a version of HTTP-Tunnel for Linux/Unix/MAC/Palm/Pocket PC?

There is only a version of HTTP-Tunnel for Windows systems at this time. There are currently no plans of implementing solutions for any other Operating Systems.

I get an error message "Key in use." What should I do?

Sometimes the HTTP-Tunnel servers do not disconnect you when you close the program. If this happens, you will get this error message like this one. The best thing to do is just close the program for 10-15 minutes and then open it again. This generally fixes the problem. However, if the problem persists someone may have gotten your key somehow. If this is the case, we will have to issue you a new key. Simply use the form on the customer service page to contact us.

I keep keeting errors during retreival of ip from server says retreival failed. Error 403 contact tech support.

Sorry, you are blocked, nothing you can do.But at times it is a settings error, so you should email or post on the forums section.

Need to access webcam through messenger?

Webcam won't work with messenger and will get disconnected pretty quickly.

RetrieveIP: HTTP Error 503. Please contact Technical Support. but status page says all free servers are ok.

Means that QS is down for them. Most probably QS itself is down since 403 / 302 / 504 are more likely for "blocking" by admins. Setting with your HTTP-Tunnel Client could be wrong.

I have an activex running on my web page. It connects to mysql server using port 3306. But some visitors cannot access the script because port 3306 is blocked on their networks. Do you have a solution for this?

You need to socksify their browser using SocksCap, turn off all proxy settings in their browsers. And of course use HTTP-Tunnel.
